This is inspired by Seth Godin. His idea of “first, ten” – when you’re first creating a product like, a podcast, share an early version with ten people you know and trust.
Forget about their feedback and compliments, they’re probably being nice. Instead, see if they share it with other’s. If they do, you’re in a good place. If they don’t, your product probably isn’t very good.
For example, the Idea Machine. When I first created the podcast, I couldn’t even get the show’s participants to listen to the episodes. But I was so excited, that I soldiered on. I kept changing the trimmings and format, but the core idea wasn’t being shared by anyone. That should have been my first sign.
Live and learn, next project coming soon. I’ll start this one by sharing with just ten people.
