Zero to one can be the hardest thing a person can do.
Taking the first step, starting that project.
It’s the act of creation.
The new business, the new blog post, the first date, the birth of a child. It’s the actualization of an idea.
But zero-to-one is logical. It’s the inevitable outcome of reasoning.
Truth is, there’s an even harder part. The second step.
Going from one to two.
Getting to one feels good. A sense of accomplishment. One-to-two is what happens when the newness and excitement wear out.
It’s an act of faith.
It’s showing up long after the hobby has started to feel like a job. After the relationship has ended its honeymoon. After your first and fourth and tenth rejection. Gym session #1,023. Blog post no. 255.
Going from one to two is a bold act, much harder than its exciting new cousin.
Today we celebrate the success of doing the thing we don’t want to do.
