Burning time between Tweetable moments

“The best way to keep a prisoner from escaping is to make sure he never knows he’s in prison.” – Dostoevsky

These were his words, not mine.

He said that life ends one hour at a time. At your cubicle. At your desk. Flicking your thumb down social media. It’s like we’re burning time between Tweetable moments.

Then, he says, the doctor calls. It’s bad. The hollow pain of reality. No Tweet will numb this, even if the Facebook post will get a lot of likes. Damn, maybe it was worth it. That’s a lot of likes, more than Carrie had for her engagement.

Life is short. No it’s not. It’s long and wasted. Wasted on the smartest, strongest and most advanced civilization to have ever lived.

I don’t agree with him, but he makes a compelling point.
